Featured Artists – Julie Griffin, Carol Baskin, & Artsy Tracy

Julie Griffin

Julie Griffin is a Florida native, born in Fort Myers, Fl. A graduate of FSU with a bachelor’s degree in fine art and supporting minors in Art Education, Marketing, and Art History. She paints with oils and specializes in the Academic method of painting. Julie loves painting landscapes, seascapes, and portraits. Academic method includes painting an underpainting with values and then painting the colors over the value study in transparent glazes. This gives the painting a 3-D illusion effect.  Light is her leading actor, in her paintings.  Her gift is to show how transformative light is, and the impact it has on both the subject and the viewer. She will draw the viewer into the illusion of a 3-D painting that she has created on a 2-D surface.

Artsy Tracy

Artsy Tracy Owen-Cullimore paints in both water media and oil, specializing in figurative work and portraits of animals and people, and she happily does custom commission work.  She says she knows she has succeeded in getting that something extra- the emotional nuance when her clients get tears in their eyes. A graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Art History and Economics. Her credentials include extensive formal training in Advertising and Graphic Design as well as Fine Art.  Tracy paints alla prima (all at once) by hand, without the aid of drawing tools.  Her art is on the border between realism and impressionism.  She captures the essence of her subject but in a loose artistic way.  Tracy is a Signature Member of the Florida Watercolor Society and a long-time supporter of ACT.

Carol Baskin

Carol Baskin is a radiographer and artist, who enjoys creating images in watercolor.  She is a native of South Florida from Miami, Coral Gables, and Coconut Grove.  She winters in Fort Myers.  She enjoys cruising on her trawler to the Bahamas and living in her RV, enjoying the outdoors and wildlife.  These happy places give her the inspiration for her watercolor paintings.  She is a member of the Miami Watercolor Society.
